About the Team
We are a club team at Villanova University and sail in MAISA, the Mid-Atlantic division of the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association (ICSA). During both the Fall and Spring seasons we compete against Varsity and Club teams from around the country.
From highly competitive high school sailing to years of summer junior programs, we are comprised of student-sailors with varied levels of racing experience. However, we all share common goals: to improve our racing skills and succeed.
History
The Villanova Sailing Team originated in the 1970s, taking a hiatus in the early 1990s, but coming back to campus in 2004. Since then, our team has been working hard to sustain itself and grow into a competitive team, both at the regional and national levels.
Facilities & Boats
We practice out of the Corinthian Yacht Club of Philadelphia in Essington, PA and currently lease eight 420s. One of the best sailing facilitates in Philadelphia, Corinthian is just 17 miles from Villanova's campus and also home to the UPenn and Drexel sailing programs. Fortunately, our common location allows us to hold joint practices with these teams.
