Somewhere between winds and rain on Friday and a roaring Nor’Easter Sunday we squeezed in 8 rotations of racing in the 2nd qualifier for the Central region of the Mid-Atlantic District.  Due to a late start to the season it was also Villanova’s first appearance in a regatta this Spring.  The confluence of the two weather systems lead to light unsettled winds for most of the regatta Saturday.  Until a wall of Southerly breeze made it’s way up the cold Chesapeake, preceding the storms to follow. We had a few good finishes early on in the regatta we had to settle for being in the middle of the fleet for the duration, and did not sail quite well enough to qualify for the America Trophy, placing 9th.  Racing was abandoned Sunday due to the high winds blowing on shore from the bay.  Congratulations to the qualifiers from this regatta Delaware and my alma mater Drexel.  Looks like this might also be an early end to our season as our home club was flooded out badly this weekend I have yet to go into the club to survey the damage.
