One of the skills that must be mastered in College Sailing is racing in current since many schools host events on local rivers and streams.  The annual Philly Fleet race hosted by U. of Pennsylvania on the tidal Delaware river can exemplify these conditions.  As winds changed direction and tidal currents grew Villanova sailors frequently had to change strategy one rotation to the next.  3 seemed to be the magic number for the team with 3rd place finishes in almost every race.  However an unfortunate accidental capsize at the start of the first race left us tied for 3rd with Penn, and the tie breaker going to the host team, with a 1st place finish in the same first race.
